Nintendo announced the next main titles in the Pokemon franchise; Pokemon X and Pokemon Y for the Nintendo 3DS. Guess they must have run out of good color and stone names. What exactly is the significance of the X and the y? Well, it’s because the new legendary Pokemon are actually shaped like X and Y as seen in the trailer.
The new starter Pokemon have also been unveiled; the grass-type being “Chespin”, the water-type being “Froakie” and the fire-type being “Fennekin” and are pictured below.
The game features a new kind of view in place of the older-styled 2D sprites which a big step forward for the huge franchise along with fluid new animations and combat style with smoother Pokemon models which really looks amazing.
The game will release in October 2013 and both Japanese and English versions will come out at the same time, meaning you won’t have to painfully wait for the localization times like the previous games. Here’s the official trailer:
